When Charlie Goh was 18 years old and attending school in SP, he “accidentally” came across acting. He made his stage debut as “Teo Ah Beng” in the play Army Daze, written by Michael Chiang and directed by Yeo Hon Beng, in a school production. This is where it all began for him.
After thereafter, he appeared in the J. B. Priestley classic thriller “An Inspector Calls,” which was directed by two lecturers, Simone Khoo and Wendy Ng. Then-President S R Nathan attended the play as the guest-of-honor.
Charlie looked into his alternatives after completing his National Service by entering into film. He has acted in several TVCs, TV dramas, short films, and other projects, including Dance Dance Dragon and Imperfect.
Charlie was offered the chance to play a supporting character (WM Tan/Tan Wei Ming) in Jack Neo’s most recent two-partner film Ah Boys to Men, which was the perfect opportunity. The Lion Man to Ah Boy. When director Jack Neo learned that Charlie had acting talent, he offered him a supporting role as Ah Qiang in his new film, “The Lion Men,” an action-comedy that focused on the lives of the participants in the Tiger-Crane Lion Dance Association.
Since then, Charlie has continued to work on a huge number of TV and film productions. He appears in Committed Services (An Awesome Productions), Two Mothers in a HDB Playground (Verite Productions Pte Ltd), Apple of My Pie (Deaf & Dope Productions), Piah (Creative Room), and Uplift in addition to the Ah Boys to Men films (MM2 Entertainment Pte Ltd).
He played Eddie Tong in the long-running hit sitcom Tanglin on Mediacorp Channel 5 for 3 years and 3 months. He has also appeared in dramas including Hello From the Other Side, The Fifth Floor, and Intercept (all toggle originals) (Toggle Original).
Charlie most recently appeared as Matthew in Kin, the most recent long-form drama from Mediacorp Channel 5.
Charlie once more graced the stage with his fellow Ah Boys to Men cast members in 2020 as they entertained the nearly 700-strong Re:Mix Getai 2020 crowd with a song and game performance.
