Enlai was raised in New Zealand after being born in Singapore. He has collaborated with organisations like W!ld Rice, Dream Academy, Theatreworks, The Necessary Stage, SRT, Toy Factory, Spell #7, and Action Theatre on more than 50 theatrical projects since his return.

The multi-talented actor is equally compelling on stage, movie, and television. Enlai is most well-known for his performances as the beloved characters Jacques Ooi, BB See, and Pornsak Sukhumvit on the International Emmy-nominated series The Noose. The show, which airs on the terrestrial channel Mediacorp Channel 5 and Comedy Central Asia, just finished its ninth season in 2017.

Enlai has served as the host of the The 5 Show and afterwards Not The 5 Show programmes on Mediacorp Channel 5. It is a weekly programme that includes current events stories and studio visitors who are significant to the average Singaporean.

Happy Go Lucky (), Laughing Out Loud (), I’m In Charge (), and Say It (), the highest-rated variety programme in Singapore that year, marked Enlai’s entry into Mandarin-speaking programming. His television acting credits include Parental Guidance, My Sassy Neighbor, Daddy’s Girls, WAH Singapore, Scrum, Say the Word, Random Island, Silver Lining, Sayang Sayang, and Parental Guidance. Enlai has hosted several shows, including Heartland Getaways, Global Picnic, Look Who’s Leading, Same But Different, Jobs for Juniors, Science Guy P.I., and Hobby TV on Mediacorp Channel 5. He has also previously worked on Kids Central.

Enlai received the 2008 Actor of the Year award from Elle Magazine for his performance on television.

Along with cameo roles in Everybody’s Business, Taxi! Taxi!, and Greedy Ghost, his filmography also includes Wayang Boy, Judgement Day, The Ghosts Must Be Crazy, and Already Famous.

Enlai is a seasoned professional who has contributed to more than 50 theatrical works. Highlights include Ah Boys To Men: The Musical, Army Daze (2013 & 2012), Happy Ever Laughter, Cinderel-lah! (2010 & 2003), Boom, Titoudao, Fundamentally Happy, Connect the Dots (Hong Kong), Separation 40, Bent, Plunge, Shakespeare’s R+J, Shopping & F***ing, Lovepuke, Meena and Me, and Snakeskin.

It should come as no surprise that Enlai is now one of the most popular TV personalities. He has been the host of choice for many roadshows, events, and gala dinners due to his popularity, warm and energetic demeanour, and distinctive and booming laugh.

Enlai most recently appeared in the Michael Chiang drama adaptation Mixed Signals.

Enlai won the Best Actor (Shopping & F***ing) and Best Supporting Actor Life! Theatre Awards twice (The Importance of Being Earnest). Enlai has also won the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress category at the Asian Television Awards twice for his work in the film The Noose.
