2001’s Miss Singapore Universe was Jaime Teo. At the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico, when she performed on stage with celebrities like Ricky Martin, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson, and other international beauty, she got her first taste of being on a global television network.
Her charisma and personality also allowed her to participate in The Amazing Race 3’s Singapore leg, as well as appear on stage with Westlife as their “Uptown Girl” during their world tour stop in Singapore.
Jaime had a solid foundation for her singing career thanks to her innate passion and interest in music. She was selected specifically for the five-member girl band One-Fifth, which had its Asian debut in April 2003, after being asked to sing at the greatest national event of the year—the Singapore National Day Parade—in 2002.
She performs a variety of parts on local television, showcasing her acting versatility. She has a flare for comedy, as seen in Mr. Kiasu and I Not Stupid 2, and a talent for tackling emotionally taxing parts, as seen in Double Happiness and Switched. In My Sassy Neighbour 3, Jaime Teo played Siew Lan, a new Madam protégé that Ah Huat can’t bear. Her most recent appearance is as Pichu Choo, the “not so bright” secretary of the crime-fighting duo in the Mandarin-language sitcom Mr. & Mrs. Kok on Channel 8.
Since she has already collaborated with industry stalwarts like Chen Shu Cheng, Dasmond Koh, and Bryan Wong, her versatility extends to her function as a host. She has hosted a variety of programmes, including Weekend Delight, Next Stop… Bon Appetit!, Driving Miss Foodie, and Insider’s Australia, a travelogue.
Mr. Unbelievable, the local film in which Jaime featured in 2015, had the greatest opening day haul of all Singaporean films, except those that were Chinese New Year-related, with a $25,000 opening day take.
It is not surprising that Jaime is a popular option among customers and event planners given her expertise hosting TV and online programmes. Jaime has hosted a variety of events over the past couple of years, including the introduction of Singtel’s wellness platform in its My Singtel App, the official opening of Kiztopia, the debut of MoneyMax’s new jewellery line, and the 2018 Guardian Health & Beauty Awards, to name a few.
Jaime is a popular Mummy figure among major brands including Yunnan Baiyao Kids Probiotics Toothpaste, Pigeon Singapore, Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, and Osim in addition to being a fitspo to her 106,000 Instagram followers. Don’t let Jaime’s slender physique deceive you—she is a big foodie who has been on TV shows like Foodie Dash and Let’s Party with Food as well as major ads like Singtel’s Ready Set Roam alongside BFF Jade Seah.
