Actor, model, triathlete, and business owner Kelly Tandiono.
When she finished university, she had already been featured in several renowned women’s publications and walked the catwalk for Calvin Klein’s fashion show during Singapore Fashion Week. She was first introduced to the modelling world at the age of 16. She then took off for some of the world’s most fashionable cities, including London, Milan, and Madrid, as well as Taipei and Hong Kong. Kelly was a huge popularity in Europe thanks to her powerful, distinctive, and adaptable appearance, her eerily slender frame, sultry eyes, and enticing full lips. During her two years in London, she participated in advertisements for Toni & Guy, The Body Shop, and Adidas. She appeared in an Elle Macpherson lingerie TV commercial and walked the runway during London Fashion Week. She is best recognised in her native country for her work as a model mentor and co-judge on Asia’s Next Top Model’s fourth season.
Kelly has a reputation for being androgynous and minimalist, and she was a highly active child. She has competed in 30 triathlons so far, frequently placing on the podium.
She began her acting career in 2012 and has since been in many projects in Indonesia. She began training in martial arts when she was a small child, and because to her black belts in Taekwondo, Silat, and Thai Boxing, she has become a popular choice for action movies. Her most recent productions include The Raid 2 (2014), the follow-up to The Raid, an action movie written, directed, and edited by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans; Bumi Manusia (2019), a film adaptation of the acclaimed book by Pramoedya Ananta Tower; Gundala (2019), an Indonesian superhero film by Joko Anwar; and Susi Susanti: Love All, a biopic of badminton legend (2019).
She was cast in the HBO Asia Original Production Grisse in 2018, which tells the tale of a group of unexpected characters uniting to overthrow the oppressive rule of their Dutch overseers. Hidayat is portrayed by Kelly and is a quiet, obnoxious, cautious, and occasionally confrontational character. Because she spent years pretending to be a boy to avoid unwanted attention, her character has a masculine name and personality. Kelly was immediately established as one of the top action stars in the region thanks to the series, which amazed thousands of fans across Asia.
Kelly has received various honours, including Best Actress at the Royal Bali International Film Festival, ELLE Model of the Year, Prestige Magazine “IT Girl,” Wollipop 20 Women of the Year, Jakarta Globe 99 Most Influential Woman, and Wollipop 20 Women of the Year, to mention a few.
In addition to acting and modelling, Kelly never shies away from using her platform and voice to help others through the Happy Hearts Foundation’s initiatives. This non-profit organisation aspires to see every Indonesian child have access to education by attending secure, quake-resistant schools. She even participated in the most recent SwimRun event, which raised money for Nusa Lembongan’s only recycling facility to meet the island’s rising need for waste management and trash collection, which was revealed in August 2019 as their Ocean Warrior.
